About us
With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).

The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km2, approximately 34.9% of Queensland. Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breathtaking rock formations. The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.

The Role
• Providing high-level advice and assistance to the corridor land management and development assessment team in relation to the assessment of development applications in accordance with the Planning Act 2016 and the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994.
• Maintaining appropriate and effective liaison and communication with internal staff, State and Local Government agencies and the community relating to road infrastructure development activities.
• Providing timely, high-level written and oral advice on town planning matters relating to the safety and efficiency of the transport network.
• Assisting in the preparation of expert witness reports at appeals in the Land and Environment Court on behalf of the department.
• Applying relevant standards, policies, guidelines, and legislative requirements in respect to development assessments and transport planning.
• Assisting in the co-ordination of all relevant tasks to ensure successful completion of activities within time, quality, cost, and stakeholders expectations.
• Reviewing state and local government planning documents to assess their implications for Transport and Main Roads and providing response to those documents on behalf of the District.
• Assisting in the identification and provide advice on modifications or adaptions to town planning documents.
• Managing projects throughout their life cycle including the efficient application of project management tools in relation to town planning.

Mandatory & Desirable Qualifications
• A Degree in Town Planning or in another profession relevant to this role which is acceptable by the Planning Institute of Australia.
• Current holder of a 'C' class driver's licence.
• It is a condition of employment for recommended appointee/s to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate prior to any appointment.
