The primary accountabilities of the Correctional Manager Accommodation include:

  • Ensure the security and effective management and supervision of prisoners in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, ensuring procedural compliance and effective risk management.
  • Oversee the management of prisoners within the centre in accordance with legislative and procedural provisions and assess and address risks and accommodation needs of the prisoner with consideration of individual, operational and environmental complexities of a Correctional Centre.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders (e.g. staff, prisoners, and service providers), to ensure the successful delivery of services whilst promoting a safe environment for prisoners, and a collaborative culture.
  • Oversee and prioritise the creation of a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and prisoners in accommodation areas of varying complexity and size, including the development of centre procedures and operational planning, to identify and respond appropriately to risks arising from prisoner management.
  • Implement strategies to identify and mitigate operational risks within prisoner accommodation and the three components of risk management: risk appreciation, risk treatment, and incident management.
  • Implement contemporary Human Resource management practices to effectively lead, develop, and nurture a skilled and engaged team, cultivating a positive workforce culture that fosters motivation, productivity, and a service-oriented working environment.
  • Advocate, oversee and manage the successful implementation of the Centre's Incentive and Earned Progression model, and actively promote the Correctional Centre Operating Model.
  • Support and manage the development, implementation and monitoring of case and sentence management for prisoners, promoting the principles and values of effective prisoner management through the Engagement Plan.
  • Actively participate as a valuable member of the Centre's multi-disciplinary leadership team, working towards the development, promotion, and execution of Queensland Corrective Services' strategic direction and the operational plan of the Centre.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate reporting systems and processes to facilitate effective performance, financial and resource management.
  • Provide supervision and monitoring for emerging issues and risks that may arise outside of regular hours on a rotating 24x7 on-call basis, providing immediate and direct oversight, support and guidance to on-site Correctional Supervisors, and the conduit to senior leadership for matters requiring higher delegation and / or briefing.
