We are looking for a Senior Veterinarian to join our team at the Tick Fever Centre to:
1. Perform veterinary medical & surgical procedures and provide expert advice on animal welfare.
2. Perform inoculation & blood collection activities for vaccine production.
3. Support field investigations, animal trials, & perform diagnostic testing while ensuring compliance with quality standards.
4. Provide expert advice to stakeholders on vaccine use & tick fever disease management through advisory calls.

Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, environment, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats.
Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.
Animal Biosecurity and Welfare (ABW) supports BQ's efforts to prevent, prepare, respond to, and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to markets. Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DPI response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery.
As our Snr Veterinarian, you will use your knowledge of tick fever disease and veterinary science to support and promote an animal biosecurity and welfare system that protects Queensland's economy, environment, lifestyle and human and animal health.
You will know you're achieving success in the role when you can independently:
- Perform medical , surgical , operational activities to ensure vaccine manufacture and distribution service delivery is met
- Apply knowledge of tick fever disease to provide advice to internal & external stakeholders
- Adhere to compliance with animal ethics, quality standards and Workplace Health Safety
- Effectively manage and supervise technical staff and fosters a high performing team environment.
