Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC) is located in Spring Creek, approximately 17 kms from the township of Gatton in the Lockyer Valley. The centre provides high security secure placement accommodation for sentenced and remand women that are classified as high or low security. Women who enter the criminal justice system often come from lives characterised by sexual, emotional and physical abuse, domestic and family violence, substance addiction and mental health problems. QCS provides a gender-responsive, trauma-informed approach to managing women with the goal of offering an opportunity to truly rehabilitate and escape the cycle that led to crime. It is important to recognise that to change a woman is to change a generation.

In this role you will be responsible for delivering industry products in a timely manner.

The position is part of the industries team. 

The primary accountabilities of the Truck Driver include:  

  • Perform pre-start checks in accordance with relevant QCS procedures. 
  • Secure loads and review load restraints in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations;  
  • Manage relevant paperwork including delivery dockets; 
  • Pickup and deliver required supplies as requested; 
  • Prepare and submit accurate logbooks, incident reports and records concerning notifiable incidents; 
  • Provide reports for any equipment damage, defects or loss and maintain accurate administration records; 
  • Manage the relevant areas inside and outside of the industries building;  
  • Removal of bins and other rubbish as required;  
  • Assist in the industries area at the direction of the Manager, Industries; 
  • Ensure that all requests for deliveries and pickups are actioned in a timely manner. 
  • Assist with industries stocktakes; 
  • Ensure all centre documentation is appropriately archived. 
  • Ensure that you comply with all workplace health and safety regulations 
  • Conduct regular truck audits to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations 

The role description provides the minimum requirements for the role. The incumbent may be required to undertake other duties as required outside of these primary accountabilities. 

Mandatory requirements

The following mandatory requirements apply to this role: 

  • Current HR Licence with minimum of 2 years' experience 
  • Australian Forklift licence with minimum of 2 years' experience in loading and unloading of trucks
