Director, Cyber Capability and Awareness. The Queensland Government Cyber Security Unit within the Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business provides leadership, governance, policy development, services and capability building to enhance the government’s cybersecurity resilience.
As a key member of the team, you will lead the Cyber Capability and Awareness function to empower Queensland Government to better manage cybersecurity risks in a rapidly evolving threat landscape by building cybersecurity awareness, skills, knowledge, and expertise.

As the Director, Cyber Capability and Awareness, you will:
• Provide strategic advice and recommendations to support the Cyber Security Unit, the General Manager for Cyber Security, Senior Executives and other stakeholders as required.
• Lead and manage a team to deliver complex and substantial cybersecurity capability and awareness projects aligned with the priorities set out in CDSB's strategic plan, the Queensland Government Cyber Security Strategy 2025-2027 and the Queensland Government Cyber Workforce Strategic Plan 2025-27.
• Drive the successful delivery and integration of cybersecurity capability and awareness program activities across government, within timeframes, budgets and to quality standards. Program activities include and are not limited to developing and implementing:
o cyber training, skills uplift and professional development programs to a range of target audiences including entry level cyber security operations, technical practitioners and Queensland government executives.
o cyber awareness uplift and behavioural change programs through the evaluation and implementation of learning management tools targeting key risks and with consistent messaging.
• Apply project and program management expertise to oversee the ongoing delivery of programs and initiatives.
• Provide expert strategic and tactical advice on program and change management risks, issues and mitigation strategies to Executive leaders and stakeholders.
• Build and sustain strong strategic relationships, with departmental stakeholders, cross jurisdictional partners, inter-departmental committees, industry, and academia to maximise outcomes and ensure a collegiate approach to the delivery of the programs.
• Present and prepare high quality briefs, reports, and other significant program management papers on program status, outcomes, costing and trend analysis to forecast long-term risks.
• Foster a team culture that promotes a collaborative and flexible way of working, suspends self-interest, captures and shares knowledge.
