An outstanding opportunity for an administrator in the Child & Family Services Team at Legal Aid Qld (LAQ). The specialist area is responsible for delivering high-quality services to individuals, families & children in domestic & family violence, family law, & child protection. Part of a multi-disciplinary team advocating for vulnerable clients, providing social & mental health support for those affected by domestic & family violence, conducting clinical & forensic family assessments for court use, & working collaboratively with lawyers to support clients.

- This position is fulltime, temporary to 30 September 2026.
Mandatory requirements or special conditions:
- There are no mandatory requirements or special conditions for this role, however experience or understanding of the domestic and family violence sector is highly regarded.
- This is Regulated employment which includes providing services to people under 18 years of age. Confirmation of employment is conditional upon the preferred applicant being issued with a valid Queensland Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card) which will be linked to Legal Aid Queensland prior to their commencing in the role. Please refer to the Blue Card Services website for further information.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following:
- Manage administrative functions including conflict checks, file creation and records management (e.g. LARS and electronic mailboxes).
- Prepare and maintain spreadsheets (including roster drafts).
- Maintain office equipment, supplies and client resources across multiple locations.
- Support both court assistance and the family report referrals and other program processes in collaboration with practitioners.
- Act as first point of contact, managing incoming calls and enquiries.
- Provide information, referral advice and eligibility screening within program guidelines.
- Triage client enquiries, including those who are distressed or in crisis, and escalate complex matters as required.
- Help clients to complete Legal Aid applications in accordance with process.
- Liaise with court registry and stakeholders regarding safety planning and referrals.
- Coordinate appointments, calendars, interpreters, travel, room bookings and videoconferencing.
- Help organise internal and external training logistics.
How You Will be Assessed:
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following capabilities:
- You have administrative experience, can use information technology systems (eg. Microsoft Office) and can learn organisation specific programs. You can prioritse competing tasks and work independently.
- You have knowledge of the trauma informed principles.
- You can communicate effectively with stakeholders including clients with complex needs, you remain calm and positive in difficult situations and provide courteous, prompt and professional services.
