In the role of Flexible Permanent Full-Time Principal Engineer (Civil), you will be responsible for managing the delivery of significant transport infrastructure programs under QTRIP, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards, while complying with all safety, legislative and policy requirements. You will provide authoritative technical and professional advice across the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction and finalisation.
A key component of the role involves leading multidisciplinary project teams, providing direction and mentorship to Project Managers, and fostering a collaborative and performance focused culture aligned with organisational priorities.
The Principal Engineer (Civil) also has a critical role in maintaining strong working relationships with government agencies, industry partners, stakeholders, community representatives, and internal and external clients. You will ensure appropriate consultation and engagement occurs to support informed decision making and effective project outcomes.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.
• A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence
• Pre-employment checks, including a criminal history screening and declaration of serious discipline history are required to be completed.
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
Desirable Experience
• Possess a track record of proactively identifying and assessing project risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies, and demonstrating adaptability to ensure project success.
• Demonstrate leadership skills to develop a high-performance team providing support to team members to empower them to make decisions.
• Extensive program management and governance framework experience and knowledge with major infrastructure projects and Collaborative Project Agreements.
• Incorporates results-oriented strategies and persistence, and implements honest progress reporting mechanisms, welcoming challenges, and persevering through obstacles with determination.
• Aptitude to communicate with diverse range of internal and external stakeholder groups to provide high standard customer service.
• Articulates complex concepts and works towards win-win outcomes by presenting a clear and convincing rationale.
• High-level experience in engineering operations, manages processes, systems and people while providing input into operation or system.
• Demonstrates expertise in project management integration and contributes to disciplined knowledge and best practice. Applies project principles and methodology to manage projects and achieve project and program outcomes.
• Demonstrates extensive experience in design and managing all design competency elements.
