An exciting opportunity exists for a high-performing leader to join the Advisory and Assessment Services (AAA) unit, within Work Health & Safety Queensland (WHSQ) attached to the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR). The Director reports into the Compliance & Field Services division, a fast-paced, operational division that manages and delivers frontline compliance and enforcement services for WHSQ.

The Director AAA, located at our Newstead office, has two distinct teams, one responsible for delivering triaging, including assessment and allocation of serious workplace incidents including workplace fatalities. The other provides advisory services through the OIR contact centre, ensuring high quality, timely and consistent advice to Queensland workers and employers. The triaging functions include allocation and assessment of serious workplace incidents including workplace fatalities.

As the Director, Advisory and Assessment Services (AAA) you will be required to provide strategic leadership, management, and coordination in the efficient and effective delivery of:
• WHSQ and the Electrical Safety Office's (ESO's) advisory and information services; and
• WHSQ and ESO's assessment services where workplace complaints and incidents are triaged.

Some of your key responsibilities include:
• Providing OIR's executive management with authoritative, professional and timely advice on emerging trends and issues, business strategies, operational matters, and compliance issues;
• Managing the triage and provision of advice regarding physical and psychosocial hazards in line with work and electrical safety legislation, codes of practice, frameworks, policies and procedures;
• Representing the OIR on relevant national technical advisory groups and forums;
• Influencing legislative and policy development to achieve strategic outcomes;
• Provide strategic direction and oversight of the effective and efficient management of advisory and assessment services by ensuring that systems, policies and processes deliver quality outcomes;
• Engaging and collaborating with external stakeholders and other Queensland Government agencies to ensure strategic objectives are achieved;
• Effective administration of significant government contracts and memoranda of understanding; and
• Developing and nurturing the capacity of AAA staff to deliver sustainable, contemporary and quality services;
• Implementing contemporary service delivery management strategies through customer relationship building, service channel migration strategies and ongoing business re-engineering.

To be successful in this role you will need:
• proven ability in strategic leadership and management, including resource, project and program management;
• ability to drive change and achieve results in a complex organisation;
• significant experience across the public, private or not for profit sectors with a strong background in stakeholder engagement, service delivery, channel management, triaging and advisory services;
• management of risks and opportunities to achieve strategic objectives and outcomes; and
• extensive knowledge of contemporary advisory and triaging frameworks in Australia.
