The Clinical Hub Clinician is a key operational role within the QAS Clinical Hub, reporting to the Clinical Hub Team Leader and Executive Manager. The role is responsible for providing virtual clinical assessment, health navigation, risk management and deployment support relating to statewide ambulance operations. The role supports the strategic goals of the QAS by providing contemporary virtual health care to patients following a Triple Zero (000) call, while also supporting statewide Operations Centres regarding the prioritisation, dispatch and deployment of QAS resources to ensure this best meets the needs of patients.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide consistent, evidence-based and high-quality health care as a registered paramedic clinician.
  • Proven highly developed ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, consult, influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders from diverse cultural, social and professional backgrounds, to build and maintain productive relationships and to positively advocate and achieve desired outcomes for the QAS.
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and detailed understanding of ambulance and health service delivery and the issues impacting on the health care system statewide.
  • Proven high level leadership skills and experience in the management and deployment of resources in support of the delivery of pre-hospital care, within a large, dynamic and demanding operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise multiple and complex information and communication technology (ICT) systems, including the ability to type accurately and efficiently and navigate through multiple clinical and clerical systems simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to rapidly solve problems, manage complex health care issues and deliver pre-hospital care in a non-traditional and virtual setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to implement practices which promote a fair and ethical workplace, employment equity, cultural diversity and occupational health and safety.

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

  • Appointments to this position will require proof of qualification/s and current registration under the National Scheme, as determined by the Paramedicine Board of Australia.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of an Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Ambulance); certification to practice as a Paramedic in Queensland; or equivalent qualifications, as deemed appropriate by the Commissioner, QAS.
  • Applicants are required to hold an open Queensland “C” Class Driver's Licence (for a manual motor car).
  • It is an express condition of employment for all people who are to perform roles with direct patient contact to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following infectious diseases during their employment: Diphtheria; Tetanus; Pertussis (Whooping Cough); Hepatitis B; Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR); Varicella (Chickenpox); Influenza. Please note, there may be additional vaccination requirements depending on individual circumstances as specified in the QAS Infection Control Framework.
  • Position may require participation in shift work (including weekends and public holidays), on-call duties and undertake overtime.
