Your new opportunity
Queensland Treasury plays a central role in supporting the Government's infrastructure and investment priorities. We are seeking a Principal Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial Project Advisory team within the Infrastructure Projects group.
In this role, you will work on complex and high-profile commercial matters, supporting government engagement with major infrastructure projects and private sector partners. You will contribute to practical, well-considered advice that informs investment decisions and delivery approaches across government, helping ensure projects are affordable, viable and deliver long-term value for Queenslanders.
This is an opportunity to apply your commercial expertise in a trusted central agency environment, where your work will directly influence outcomes of state-wide significance.
In this role, you will:
• Support the delivery of high-quality commercial, financial and transaction advice to government agencies and Treasury, particularly in relation to investment decisions, business cases, procurement and delivery models.
• Contribute to the development and assessment of delivery strategies, including Public Private Partnerships and other commercial models, by analysing risks, market capability and commercial structures.
• Analyse financial and commercial documentation such as feasibility assessments, financial models, cost estimates and demand forecasts to support robust, evidence-based recommendations.
• Support commercial assurance activities by constructively challenging assumptions, methodologies and commercial positions to strengthen project proposals.
• Build and manage effective working relationships with stakeholders across government and industry to support market engagement, negotiations and coordinated advice.
• Assist in resolving complex issues by contributing to timely, practical and outcome-focused solutions, including leading or supporting responses when issues arise.
• Build strong networks across government and industry to support successful project outcomes.
What experience you will bring:
• Demonstrated commercial experience in infrastructure, investment or major project environments, with a strong focus on value for money, affordability and appropriate risk allocation.
• Strong commercial acumen within a government, regulatory or policy context.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively across government, central agencies and industry to support coordinated, outcome-focused advice.
• The ability to apply commercial judgement in a government setting, synthesising financial, economic and strategic inputs to support sound investment decisions.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
