Drive strategic road outcomes as Manager (Project Planning & Corridor Management). In this AO8 leadership role, you’ll support the District Director by leading transport planning, road asset management and corridor management across the district. You’ll provide tactical direction, oversee program priorities and manage issues impacting the road network.
Acting as Project Customer for district projects and Asset Owner for the network, you’ll work closely with Project Sponsors to set criteria and prioritise delivery. As a key member of the District Leadership Team, you’ll shape policies, processes and regional priorities to achieve strong, coordinated outcomes.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Lead, manage, coordinate and direct the district integrated transport planning and corridor management activities in a relational manner.
• Provide effective leadership, guidance and management to unit staff to enable the development of a highly motivated and skilled team.
• Provide authoritative, strategic and operational advice to the District Director and Program Managers on road system planning and road corridor planning issues.
• Manage land tenure issues (disposal, acquisition of corridors, changes to gazetted network, road closures).
• Manage all aspects of the district road corridor locally including Road corridor amenity (litter, noise, air, graffiti); Natural resource management (soil, salinity, quarries); Third Party Access and Tourism Signage.
• Provide advice (technical response) to the State Assessment Referral Agency (SARA) on development proposals to minimise potential future impacts on network safety and efficiency, including participation in pre-lodgement discussions.
• Monitor and report to the District Director on the progress of transport planning projects against program priorities.
• Ensure that a strategic program of works is developed for the district covering road system planning and road corridor planning, that is accepted and supported by key stakeholders and addresses departmental and district strategic objectives and priorities.
• Facilitate business and achievement planning processes for network planning and functions.
• Ensure appropriate technical governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards and procedures.
• Interact with local government, Integrated Transport Planning and district planning authorities to ensure state-controlled road interests are protected in land use planning decisions.
• Ensure that appropriate road system planning frameworks and systems are implemented and maintained to inform district and departmental decision making and planning processes.
• Maintain road network information to enable asset management.
• Ensure that appropriate road corridor planning frameworks and systems are implemented and maintained to inform district and departmental decision making and planning processes.
• Develop and maintain ongoing constructive relationships with other government agencies and jurisdictions, industry, stakeholders, community and internal and external client networks.
• Operate as a member of the District Leadership Team to contribute to and assist in the implementation of the culture change processes taking place within regional clusters and regions, including the building of high performing teams.
• To plan, develop and integrate the form of the transport network and manage the use and access to the State controlled road network in the district.
• Actively influence local government planning schemes and collaborate with local governments in preparing respective Priority Infrastructure Plans, and other strategic forward programs.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Current 'Class C' driver license
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
