The purpose of the Temporary Principal Project Manager role is to lead and coordinate the District's preconstruction program to ensure timely delivery of the Department's program.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Manage internal and external consultancy groups in the production of design projects to meet the Department's Strategic Transport Infrastructure needs and provide technical advice and consultancy service to staff, management and external agencies
• Project manage planning and design projects to meet the department's Road Implementation Program for the District.
• Coordinate the District's preconstruction program including development of project timelines through all phases to ensure timely delivery of the Queensland Transport & Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).
• Oversee and review projects for fitness for purpose, community expectations, value for money, legislative requirements and for consistent application of Departmental strategies, and technical standards.
• Contribute to the training and development needs of the preconstruction team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and experience to ensure effective unit operation.
• Provide expert technical advice in the interpretation and application of transport infrastructure policies and standards for planning and design, including consideration of construction methods and safety.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks. (If your qualification is from an overseas institution, the Australian assessment of qualification equivalence must also be provided).
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.
• C Class driver's licence.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• This role is on offer in a temporary capacity only, until 30/06/2027.
Requirements of the role:
• Engineering (Civil Design): You can interpret design requirements, apply design principles and standards, conceptualise options and apply creativity to the development of plans and designs that meet client's requirements.
• Program/Project Management: You can apply project principles and methodology to achieve project and program requirements.
• Teamwork: Build and maintain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and clients. Anticipate and respond to client and stakeholder needs and expectations.
