Your role within Corporate Services will support the department to deliver housing assistance, homelessness support services, local government support and advice, state and regional planning, public works building and design and industry regulatory reform. Reporting to the Team Leader – Servers, the Senior ICT Technical Officer (RHEL) works in a team of ICT technical specialists to implement, maintain and support of a large and complex information technology environment. The ICT services within the department are hosted and deployed on predominately Microsoft Windows systems. There are also various Linux systems, which this role is focused on.

What you will be doing:
- Assist with the management of the installation, maintenance and support of the ICT environment and systems by applying your knowledge and technical skills in the following technologies:
- Operating Systems (Major in Linux RedHat, minor in Windows).
- Active Directory.
- Virtual Infrastructure (Azure/VMware).
- Scripting technologies (PowerShell/JSON/BICEP).
- Azure DevOps.
- Server management:.
Patching concepts (AUM/WSUS).
Backup and Restore technologies (Azure Recovery Services Vaults/Networker/VEEAM).
Monitoring and Alerting Tools/Concepts (Azure Monitor).
Lifecycle management.
- Undertake a leading role in a responsive and effective problem resolution service that will minimise disruptions to and meet agreed performance targets for networked information systems and associated applications.
- Consult, negotiate, liaise and provide expert advice to staff at all levels regarding the operations of the Information Systems infrastructure and facilities.
- Identify gaps and opportunities in the delivery of DTS services; coordinate identification and investigation of potential solutions on behalf of clients; work with DTS staff and management to develop solutions, and analyse, evaluate and propose new and/or additional services.
- Influence and encourage an environment and culture in which high quality customer service is delivered through fostering adherence to quality system processes, continually seeking improvement in the way in which work is undertaken.
- Contribute to the effective teamwork of DTS by developing an understanding of the roles and duties of other team members and work collaboratively to assist the team in delivering services to the Department.
- Investigate and identify analytical and problem-solving activities for the maintenance and support of a large and complex information technology environment.
- Manage and coordinate minor projects to implement and upgrade the information technology environment.
