The Executive Director (Commercial & Program Governance) is a career‑defining leadership opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on Queensland's rail network by shaping how major infrastructure is governed, contracted and delivered.
Reporting to the General Manager (RIDO), you will hold executive-level accountability for RIDO's commercial strategy, financial governance, procurement frameworks and program governance systems. You will establish and embed robust, fit‑for‑purpose commercial and governance arrangements that enable disciplined delivery in a complex, safety‑critical environment, while ensuring flexibility to respond to risk, market conditions and evolving program demands.
You will safeguard public investment by ensuring commercial arrangements are sound, risks are visible and actively managed, and delivery partners are held to account through clear contractual expectations and mature governance practices. Your leadership will directly shape how major contracts are structured, negotiated and managed, and how commercial decisions translate into real‑world outcomes - reliable infrastructure, improved connectivity, and long‑term value for Queensland communities.
You will provide authoritative, evidence‑based advice to senior executives and government stakeholders on complex commercial, contractual and governance matters. Representing RIDO in high‑level forums, you will contribute to strategic decision‑making that balances commercial discipline with public value and long term network outcomes. Your ability to navigate sensitive issues, resolve disputes constructively and influence across government and industry will be critical.
The role combines deep commercial expertise with system‑level thinking. You will lead and develop a high‑performing Commercial & Program Governance team, setting clear standards, building organisational capability and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. You will also drive consistency and knowledge‑sharing across embedded commercial teams, strengthening maturity and confidence across the portfolio.
This role will appeal to a highly accomplished executive motivated by impact, stewardship and scale - someone who thrives in complexity and is driven by the opportunity to shape how major public infrastructure is delivered. The legacy of this position will be visible every day in safer, more reliable rail services, stronger governance, and infrastructure that supports Queensland's growth and connects communities for generations to come.
Applications will remain current for a period of 12 months.
