In the role of Project Engineer, under Registered Professional Engineer of Qld (RPEQ) supervision, you will provide engineering input to design, construction and maintenance activities within the business unit. You will supervise construction and/or maintenance activities within the business unit to ensure a high standard of quality, economy and safety are achieved.
You will provide technical advice to subordinate staff in your area of responsibility to ensure that technical standards and specifications are achieved, and the projects are completed within budget and program constraints.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Learn how to manage projects throughout their life cycle including the efficient application of project management tools, including assisting in planning, budgeting, programming, monitoring expenditure, controlling, and reviewing priorities.
• Assist in the preparation of design processes to ensure compliance and successful project delivery.
• Perform the role of estimator for bids/offers undertaken by the Works Centre.
• Assist with procurement of road making materials and project services.
• Utilise problem solving abilities and your professional judgement to investigate, analyse and conceptualise possible concepts to meet design objectives.
• Develop your ability to identify possible problem areas and negotiate modifications or adaptations to design briefs where necessary to achieve acceptance.
• Develop your ability to liaise and consult a range of internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to road infrastructure development activities.
• Develop your leadership and management abilities through on-the-job opportunities.
• Present technical training sessions on standard specifications for relevant project staff.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Civil Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Valid Queensland ‘C' class driver's licence or equivalent.
• A reasonable amount of travel consistent with industry standards may be required throughout the State.
• TMR has a Drug and Alcohol Policy which applies to all Employees, Workers and Visitors to TMR workplaces. This may include random, post incident and reasonable suspicion testing during employment to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
