The Victim Services Coordinator is appointed by the chief executive under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (Section 138). This position reports to the Director, Strategy and Engagement and will:

• Lead a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of high quality, responsive services to support victims of violent crime in Queensland.
• Drive organisational change, culture and capability and provide leadership to Victim Assist Queensland staff.
• Undertake the functions of the Victim Services Coordinator as defined in the Victim of Crime Assistance Act 2009.

Key responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Provide strategic analysis and advice on complex operational policy and legislative issues relating to the provision of assistance and the administration of the Victim of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
  • Ensure the distribution of information about the operation of Victim of Crime Assistance Act 2009. to agencies that support victims and the public
  • Assist victim service providers to coordinate and provide services effectively and efficiently
  • Assist victims in obtaining the information or assistance they need
  • Undertake or commission research about the needs of victims
  • Leads and coordinates Victim Assist's involvement in High-Risk Teams and integrated service responses across the state, ensuring a coordinated approach to enhancing the safety of victim-survivors of domestic and family violence and holding perpetrators accountable for their behaviour.
  • Leads and coordinates the Victims of Crime Community Response across five locations across Queensland to ensure program sites have a consistent approach to responding to victims of crime in the immediate aftermath of an act of violence.
  • Leads and coordinates the offender debt recovery program in accordance to the Victim of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
  • Leads the information and referral team ensuring the delivery of trauma-informed responses to victims of crime, through information and referral to appropriate supports.
  • Oversees the Offender Debt Recovery Program, ensuring is effective and efficient management to support the State in recovering financial assistance from offenders in accordance with the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
  • Oversees the service delivery outcomes of the Victims Services Funding Program.
  • Contributes to Financial, Human Resource and Performance management activities including budget and establishment management, workforce and succession planning, coaching, mentoring and staff supervision.
