As a Senior Project Officer (AO6) within the Joint Management Program, you will play a key role in supporting the governance, planning and delivery of Indigenous Management Agreements across national parks on Cape York Peninsula Aboriginal Land. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-level project, financial and administrative support to ensure agreements, budgets and processes are implemented effectively and in line with departmental and legislative requirements.
This role has a strong focus on project coordination, budget management and financial governance, including oversight of Park Activity Agreements and compliance with procurement and reporting frameworks. A significant component of the role involves secretariat support to the Cape York Peninsula Regional Protected Area Ministerial Advisory Committee. This includes coordinating meetings, preparing agendas and papers, recording and distributing minutes, and tracking actions to support informed decision‑making at a senior level. Success in this role requires well‑developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build respectful, effective relationships with First Nations partners, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service regions, government agencies, research organisations and community stakeholders. You will be comfortable working across complex stakeholder environments, analysing information, solving problems and supporting continuous improvement in systems and practices.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in project or program management, strong financial and organisational capability, and a sound understanding of contemporary protected area  management and joint management principles. You will be someone who communicates clearly, exercises professional judgement, and contributes positively to a workplace culture that values safety, inclusion, respect and collaboration. This role will suit a motivated professional who is passionate about making a tangible difference through well‑governed, on‑ground outcomes for
Queensland's protected areas.
