Driving Examiner/Customer Service Advisor

Join the Indigenous Driver Licence Unit (IDLU) and help make a difference to people in remote Queensland communities. As a key member of the team, you will deliver CDSB services to regional and remote First Nations communities in a culturally safe manner. The IDLU delivers the Indigenous Drivers Licensing Program (IDLP), which aims to reduce road trauma, driver economic engagement, and reduce contact with the criminal justice system, through access to licensing services.

About Your Opportunity
As the Driving Examiner / Customer Service Advisor, you will:
• Conduct practical driving assessments for Queensland driver licence using well developed interpersonal skills with total commitment to quality customer service delivery.
• Deliver essential government services, including licensing and other products, through a variety of communication channels to enable customers to complete their requests in an efficient and effective manner.
• Demonstrated knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Act, Regulations, Policies and practices relating to the driver licence assessment function.
• Exercise judgement when necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedent has been set and procedures/processes clearly outlines, in consultation with the appropriate Supervisor or Manager.
• In the circumstances where the Senior Advisor (IDLU) is absent for a limited period of time, you may be asked to supervise the operations of the Indigenous Driver Licensing Unit.
• Contribute to Reframing the State Government's relationship with First Nations peoples under section 21 of the Public Sector Act 2022 by ensuring culturally safe and inclusive practices are embedded in service delivery and community engagement.
Role Requirements
• Applicants are required to have held an Open C class driver licence for a minimum of twelve (12) months.
• A current Queensland driver licence is required, with higher classes of licences (e.g., MR or HR) not essential but highly regarded.
• Ability to undertake regular travel by vehicle or light aircraft to remote communities, including travel outside of standard business hours.
• Demonstrated experience working respectfully and effectively with First Nations peoples and communities is highly desirable.
• Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) issued by Blue Card Services.
