As the Director of the Office of the Commissioner Meriba Omasker Kaziw Kazipa (OCMOKK) you will have unique and rewarding role in supporting the Commissioner, the Office of the Commissioner Meriba Omasker Kaziw Kazipa, the Deputy Director- General (DDG), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships (ATSIP) and the MOKK Advisory Group Board under the Meriba Omasker Kaziw Kazipa (Torres Strait Islander Traditional Child Rearing Practice) Act 2020 (MOKK Act).

Reporting to the Commissioner (Meriba Omakser Kaziw Kazipa), you will be a lead in the program, providing place-based, face-to-face service delivery throughout Queensland and remote regions, such as the Torres Strait Islands and Northern Peninsula Area to support the efficient operation and administration of the MOKK Act. You will also be responsible to providing business support to the DDG ATSIP.

Your contribution and key responsibilities:
• Lead the program to implement the Queensland Government Framework for recognising Torres Strait Islander traditional child-rearing practices.
• Provide strategic advice and high-level support to the Commissioner and stakeholders on administrative, strategic, operational, and sensitive matters.
• Provide timely, accurate advice, briefings, and documentation to support the Minister's and Director-General's decision-making and priorities.
• Coordinate and deliver administrative and operational support, including responses to requests, stakeholder liaison, and ensuring alignment with departmental and legislative requirements.
• Foster strong, respectful relationships and consult with Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, senior government representatives, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee corporate responsibilities, including human resources, finance, budget management, governance, communications, records management, correspondence, and reporting, while identifying risks and opportunities to deliver effective solutions.
• Provide secretariate and administrative support to the MOKK Advisory Group Board.
• Proactively address opportunities and risks and drive continuous improvement by leading initiatives to enhance processes, systems, and organisational practices.
• Represent OCMOOK in key forums and governance committees to advocate for priorities and objectives.
• Research, coordinate, and prepare complex reports, submissions, and briefing notes.
• Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and safe workplace culture.
