Senior Events and Communications Officer


Olympic and Paralympic Games Office; Brisbane City

As Events and Communications Officer within the Olympic and Paralympic Games Office (OPGO), you will play a key role in supporting the planning and delivery of events, communications and stakeholder engagement activities for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Reporting to the Director, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications, this role provides high-level coordination, communications and operational support, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver events, briefings and engagement initiatives that support effective information flow and decision-making across the Games program. You will contribute to the preparation of high-quality communication materials, support executive and ministerial engagement, and help ensure activities are delivered in line with government frameworks and protocols.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Lead the end-to-end coordination of events, briefings and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring seamless delivery, logistics and post-event evaluation.
• Develop and maintain event plans, communication schedules and stakeholder tracking tools to support effective information flow.
• Provide high-level support to the Director and senior leaders on events, communications and engagement priorities.
• Prepare clear, high-quality briefings, correspondence, presentations and communication materials for executive and ministerial audiences.
• Manage event logistics, including invitations, stakeholder engagement, suppliers, run sheets and follow-up actions.
• Maintain and update OPGO web content to ensure accurate and timely information.
• Build strong relationships across government, industry and community stakeholders.
• Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies, driving practical solutions and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate and guide project support staff, contractors and suppliers as required.
• Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture.

In addition to the criteria, those with demonstrated experience in organising regional roadshows, engaging with councils, coordinating across government, managing procurement processes, supporting city readiness initiatives and delivering events end-to-end, including supplier management, venue coordination and event communications, will be highly regarded.
