This is a pivotal leadership role within the Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science unit, which delivers critical services and operational management to support biodiversity science and environmental sustainability in Queensland.
About the Role 
As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the operational management of the Queensland Herbarium's facilities and oversee the delivery of public-facing services, including the Biodiversity Information and Advisory Service. Your role will be integral to ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Herbarium's physical assets and business operations.
You will:
• Manage the operation of the Biodiversity Information and Advisory Service, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Oversee the Queensland Herbarium's buildings, facilities, and vehicle fleet, including maintenance, safety compliance, and contractor management.
• Provide high-level advice to senior leadership on strategic and operational planning, business services, and process improvements.
• Lead and manage a small team, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
• Coordinate and support risk management and business improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace that values equity, diversity, and inclusion. Success in this role will be reflected in the seamless delivery of operational and business support services, improved facility management, and strengthened collaboration across the unit.

• Proven experience in project management, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes under pressure.
• High-level problem-solving and analytical skills to assess complex situations and implement innovative solutions.
• Strong communication, liaison, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and prepare high-quality written materials.
• Experience in managing teams, including workload prioritisation, performance management, and fostering a collaborative culture.
• Knowledge of facility management operations, including safety compliance, maintenance, and contractor management.
• A commitment to workplace safety, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
