Contribute to the effective financial operations of the department through the management of integrated activities within dynamic team-based environment.  Financial Services Branch - Corporate Services delivers key corporate activities in support of departmental operations.  This support is aimed at enabling the five businesses within the Division to deliver better outcomes for the people of Queensland.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake various tasks within financial operations including the production of monthly reconciliations, preparation of journals, financial reports and financial statements.
  • Assist the Principal Financial Accountant in collating and providing workpapers during finance audits and address financial reporting issues to ensure Departmental compliance with relevant legislation, Government policies and the Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Maintain expertise and provide guidance in relevant departmental policies, guidelines, practices and highly proficient in SAP financial system.
  • Develop work schedules to ensure key financial deliverables are performed efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Complete financial analysis and interpretations to support decision making and high level of ability to solve problems in timely manner.
  • Work in a team environment with respect to the collection, analysis and reporting of financial information and statistics in the annual financial reporting processes of the Department.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, conducive to sharing of relevant financial information and advice on range of finance processes.
  • Undertake continuous improvement initiatives to enhance work practices and demonstrated commitment to provide excellent customer service to achieve real and measurable change and productivity improvements.

Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability:

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team to deliver financial support, information and advice to stakeholders that align with the strategic objectives of the organization.
  • Proven experience in the preparation, review and submissions of financial reports, reconciliations, journals and audit workpapers.
