The Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling (PRS) Branch forms part of the department’s recently established Rail Division and plays an impactful role in delivering and managing rollingstock and signalling projects that are innovative, integrated and accessible to meet the growing demand for rail services in South East Queensland.

The purpose of the Senior Advisor (Human Resources) is to provide professional high-level human resource services and advice on a broad range of complex and sensitive human resource matters.

The Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling Branch is delivering and managing rollingstock and signalling projects that are innovative, integrated and accessible to meet the growing demand for rail services in South East Queensland. The purpose of the Senior Advisor (Human Resources) is to provide professional high-level human resource services and advice on a broad range of complex and sensitive human resource matters. 

Some of your responsibilities will include: 
•    Consult and provide solutions to management on complex employee payroll and operational matters through interpretation of Human Resource (HR) policies, procedures and relevant legislation in line with Queensland Public Sector HR Legislation, Awards, Agreements, Directives and Protocols. 
•    Provide support, advice and coaching on complex and sensitive employee matters. Recommend and implement procedures and practices that meet legislative compliance. 
•    Draw on business knowledge and access workforce data to identify, develop and implement business solutions to address complex workplace issues and build workforce capability, staff engagement and culture.  
•    Research and analyse human resource management issues within the branch, identify key areas for improvement and develop strategies that drive better practices. 
•    Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gain support and influence HR outcomes for the branch. 
•    Prepare complex, high quality and timely correspondence, reports, briefing notes and submissions regarding a broad range of HR management activities, plans and initiatives.

•    Extensive experience providing HR advice on complex matters, with a strong understanding of Queensland Public Sector legislation, directives, and policies. Demonstrates sound governance and compliance in all HR practices. 
•    Proven ability to analyse complex workforce issues and data to make ethical, evidence-based decisions that align with organisational goals and drive workforce capability. 
•    Highly developed communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver clear, tailored messages across diverse stakeholder groups. 
•    Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality outcomes through professional, accountable work practices. Actively contributes to team goals and takes ownership of responsibilities in a dynamic environment. 
•    Strong commitment to continuous improvement in HR practices, with the ability to identify areas for development within teams and systems. 
•    Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
