Senior Child Safety Support Officer

As a Senior Child Safety Support Officer, you will work within a multidisciplinary team and provide high quality, culturally appropriate, child protection services to children, families and carers serviced by the Child Safety Service Centre. You will also support colleagues and management in the delivery of statutory child protection services within a strengths-based, safety-oriented framework for practice.
The focus of this role will be on identifying and supporting potential kin to become approved carers and supporting connection to young people in out of home care. The role will be required to establish productive partnerships in consultation with departmental staff, carers and other key stakeholders to meet the placement needs of children and young people.

Your responsibilities
As a Senior Child Safety Support Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Effectively and positively engage with children, families, carers and service providers (including both government and non-government agencies) as required to support children and parents to meet their identified case plan goals.
- Provide individualised, high quality, and culturally appropriate supports to children and families subject to tertiary child protection intervention including, but not limited to, facilitation of positive family connection, referrals and advocacy for services, parent coaching and support of transition from care plans.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, children and parents to support the establishment and strengthening of effective safety and support networks, including connection to extended family and community.
- Provide high quality, comprehensive casework support and advice to assist in informing decisions about the safety and protective needs of children where complex child protection concerns are present.
- Participate effectively as a team member in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well-planned family support services to vulnerable children and families.
- Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development, to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence based.
- Prepare and maintain quality case records in accordance with departmental case management requirements.
Your mandatory requirements
- It is mandatory to hold a Blue Card administered by the Queensland Public Safety Business Agency and a Queensland Drivers Licence. Some intra-state travel may be required in these roles to meet service delivery needs.
