The Role
As Manager (AO8) in the Volunteering Policy and Engagement team, you will lead a high-performing team, provide strategic advice, and deliver quality briefings, submissions, and reports. Working closely with the Director, you will advocate for Queensland's volunteering sector, strengthen partnerships, and address sector challenges. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, agility, and the ability to deliver evidence-based, inclusive solutions in a dynamic environment.
Key Accountabilities:
• Lead and contribute to strategic policy, reform initiatives and program proposals that respond to priority issues and support departmental objectives.
• Provide high-level advice, informed by research, analysis and sector intelligence, on emerging risks, opportunities and initiatives.
• Support the Director to lead the team, foster an inclusive and high-performing culture, and deliver quality outcomes.
• Prepare and quality assure policy papers, Cabinet and Ministerial submissions, briefs, reports, correspondence, funding proposals and presentations.
• Build productive partnerships with community organisations, peak bodies, business, local government, and State and Commonwealth agencies.
• Lead inclusive stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation to support effective policy development and timely delivery.
• Represent the department's vision, values and priorities with stakeholders and partner agencies.
About You:
You will bring strong policy acumen, stakeholder management experience and the confidence to operate at manager level in a public sector environment. You are highly organised, agile and reflective, with the emotional intelligence to lead others, support wellbeing and build trust. You use evidence, data and diverse perspectives to solve complex issues, provide clear advice and guide practical action. Travel away from your usual work centre may be required, including travel outside normal office hours or overnight stays.
