High Risk Offender Management Unit; Community Corrections; Community Corrections & Specialist Operations; Brisbane

The High Risk Offender Management Unit (HROMU) team based in the Brisbane and Townsville regions is responsible for the supervision of offenders subject to a supervision order pursuant to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (DPSOA) residing throughout Queensland and the electronic monitoring of offenders on parole. It comprises of the following work groups:

-HROMU Strategic Risk and Support, including the Clinical Support Unit;
-HROMU Operations SEQ, operating from Wacol; and
-HROMU Central to Far Northern, operating from Townsville.

To be successful in this role, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following experience, knowledge and skills:

• Demonstrated experience in the criminal justice environment, or similar experience that demonstrates ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge, including the interpretation and application of legislation, policy and practice directives in an operational environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of assessment and risk management approaches for working with a diverse and complex client base within a human services field.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues relevant to the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the criminal justice system.
• High level interpersonal skills, including strong written and oral communication and the ability to engage with a diverse client group and effectively communicate with stakeholders in a manner appropriate to the audience.
• Demonstrated experience in applying professional discretion, reasoning, judgement, and decision-making skills prior to seeking management validation.
• Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, resilient, and flexible in work practices in response to shifting priorities and the practicalities of working within a fast paced and high-pressure operational environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage strong relationships with peers, team members, internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements:

• Possession of a relevant human services tertiary degree such as psychology, criminology, justice, social work, health, behavioural or social sciences is required.
