Senior Liaison Officer
Escalations Unit; Victim Assist Queensland; Victim Support; South Brisbane
The Senior Liaison Officer role sits within the Escalation Review Team, within Victim Assist. The team consists of a Team Leader, two Senior Liaison Officers and two Senior Review Officers.
The Senior Liaison Officer is responsible for working collaboratively with the office of the Director General, Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support to respond and action complex correspondence and complaints from Ministers, Departments, and the Premiers Office in a timely fashion; provide direct support to victims, victim advocates and their families; and provide accurate, timely, and professional advice and support across Victim Assist Queensland (VAQ).

Key responsibilities
• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Maintain an understanding of legislation, policy and procedures and their applicability to victims of crime.
• Respond empathetically and effectively to victims of crime, including promoting the rights and needs of victims of crime and facilitating access to the services available to them.
• Undertake referrals to appropriate support services for long term support for recovery.
• Assist clients with complex and high support needs, providing direct service delivery including the provision of information regarding the criminal justice process, and to apply for financial assistance.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other teams, and senior leaders, to deliver seamless victim support.
• Contribute to a high performing team by collaborating with others, displaying motivation, sharing, and encouraging innovative ideas.
• Facilitate efficient and timely progression of information and correspondence between the Department and the office of the Minister for Youth Justice and Victim Support.
