This is your opportunity as a respected and experienced leader to contribute to meaningful reforms to aspects of the Queensland planning framework. As Director of the Improvement stream of the Division you will utilise your strategic leadership and program management strengths to oversight and drive a diverse program of initiatives that will deliver beneficial outcomes for Queensland communities. Your experience with critical thinking, analysis and development of pragmatic reform responses will be drawn on to drive timely outcomes from a challenging work program. The position is Brisbane-based and flexible by negotiation.

We want you to lead a team of enthusiastic professionals that are committed to making a difference to the Queensland planning system. The work program of the Division is dynamic and responsive to changes in government and business need priorities. Your leadership will be essential to manage an evolving work program while ensuring that resources are optimally utilised and team members maintain their passion and commitment to delivering outcomes.

We're looking for the best-suited applicant for the role. We focus on your strengths by assessing a combination of your competencies, knowledge-based skills and behaviours. For this role we are looking for strengths in:

  • Lead an empowered, highly engaged and capable team through a commitment to Planning Groups' shared purpose, vision and values to achieve high performance and outcomes.
  • Actively monitor and manage a diverse work program in response to changing government priorities. 
  • Role model resilience and persistence to ensure delivery of Divisional program priorities.
  • Lead critical thinking and insightful analysis to ensure Divisional projects deliver effective and timely outcomes.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative working relationships across all business areas within Planning Group.
  • Foster project specific effective stakeholder engagement with government agencies and external stakeholders including LGAQ and peak bodies.
  • Synthesize complex technical analysis into clear, actionable advice to support executive decision making.
  • Create a safe workplace environment that supports wellbeing and values diversity and inclusion; and enables collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.
