In the role of Advisor (Operational Safety) you will perform a frontline advisory and support role to managers and operational staff within the Infrastructure Management and Delivery (IMD) division of TMR, providing work health and safety (WHS) advice and support.

The role will report to local operations, but will work with health and safety practitioners across IMD and throughout Queensland to support the delivery of the divisional model for WHS. The role will focus on the effective management of health and safety for our workers and work / workplaces the division directly manages and controls.

Accountabilities include:

Work collaboratively with peer roles and with the functional lead for operational safety in a matrix-style arrangement as part of the IMD WHS delivery model.

  • Build and maintain relationships with safety practitioners, operational staff, and managers across IMD and TMR to achieve positive outcomes for the division and for TMR.
  • Provide a high standard of professional advice and support to frontline operational staff, managers, and WHS committees on:

    • The interpretation, understanding and application of WHS legislation, Australian and international standards, certification and accreditation criteria
    • The implementation of WHS policies, procedures, standards, guidance and tools
    • The identification of hazards and risks relevant to IMD work and workplaces, and
    • The implementation of established contemporary good practice for eliminating and minimising risks relevant to IMD work and workplaces
  • Actively contribute to the development and review of operational safety content (e.g. standards, procedures, guidance, tools, reports) for IMD, in support of the functional lead for operational safety.
