As a Works Supervisor (AO5) within Technical Services, Georesources, you will play a hands on role in the management and remediation of abandoned mines across Queensland. Working closely with project managers, contractors and other internal and external stakeholders, you will help deliver safe, compliant and effective remediation outcomes that reduce risk and protect communities and the environment.
In this role, you will coordinate and supervise on ground works associated with abandoned mine remediation and shaft repair activities, including high risk works such as earthworks, capping of historic mine shafts, decommissioning of infrastructure, water management and ongoing care and maintenance. You will provide technical and operational advice on safe work methods, coordinate and prioritise contractor activities across multiple sites, and communicate effectively with contractors, landholders and project teams. The role also involves undertaking site inspections, trip planning, risk assessments and supporting water monitoring activities as required, while ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety and other legislative requirements.
We are looking for a recognised trade qualification in building and construction or metal fitting and fabrication or mechanical maintenance, experience within building and construction or mining or heavy industries, valid high-risk (HRW) licences and C class driver licence.
Success in this role looks like well planned and safely executed works, strong contractor and stakeholder relationships, clear communication from site to project teams, and consistent attention to quality, safety and risk management in challenging field environments.
To apply for this role, you will need to submit the following document/s:
• A copy of your current resume (2-3 pages recommended), detailing your previous work, voluntary or relevant experience, and the contact details for two referees who have personally observed you displaying the key duties, responsibilities and capabilities of this role within the last two years.
• A brief cover letter (1-2 pages) introducing yourself to the panel and showcasing how your “About you” skills and capabilities will enable you to make a valuable contribution to the department.
