Queensland Treasury is seeking an Executive Director to lead the Economic Development and Employment team within Industry Policy and Analytics. In this critical role, you will act as a trusted advisor driving public policy across a diverse portfolio, including Transport and Main Roads, Sport and Racing, Trade, Employment and Training, State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Industrial Relations, Customer and Digital Services, and Small Business. This position offers the opportunity to drive economic growth, job creation, and sectorwide innovation. You will move past simple oversight to actively partner with industry, community, and government leaders, transforming high-level strategy into tangible prosperity for Queenslanders.

In this role, you will contribute to:

Strategic Advice & Executive Governance
• Provide high-level advice, analysis, and evidence-based solutions to the Under Treasurer, Treasurer, Cabinet, and key stakeholders regarding complex policy and fiscal issues.
• Influence policy agendas and drive sector-wide initiatives that align with government priorities.
Collaborative Partnerships & Advocacy
• Partner with government departments, agencies, industry, and the community to foster continuous improvement, innovation, and change.
• Represent Treasury in complex, sensitive negotiations and manage influential networks.
Leadership & Culture
• Manage, develop, and sustain a high-performing professional team, fostering a culture that delivers flexible, responsive, and cost-effective services.

What experience you will bring:
Policy Leadership & Strategic Acumen
• A proven record of achievement in developing and implementing complex economic and public policy frameworks, backed by high-level political acumen.
• Strong ability to collaborate and influence, ensuring a strategic lens is brought to decision-making across government.
Executive Leadership & Change Management
• A record of success as an inspiring leader within a large, complex organisation.
• A proven track record as an agile agent of change who fosters innovation and team capability.
Personal Attributes
• Outstanding judgement, high-level integrity, ethics, and probity.
• Excellence in communication, a strong achievement orientation, and agility to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
• Significant leadership experience across the public, private, and/or not-for-profit sectors.

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
