About the role
In this role, you'll take ownership of a dynamic RTI and privacy portfolio, working closely with the Manager to coordinate end-to-end functions across the business. You'll assess and determine complex and sensitive applications under the RTI Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009, exercising delegated decision-making to balance transparency with sound judgement. Managing competing priorities with strong time management, you'll keep multiple matters moving seamlessly - progressing access and amendment requests, driving consultations, and delivering clear, defensible notices and decisions.
You'll work confidently with internal stakeholders, other government agencies and industry bodies to navigate sensitive issues and land decisions that stand up to scrutiny, while also supporting onboarding and sharing practical know-how with newer team members.

About you
Ideally you already operating in an RTI environment, within a government department and know how to keep multiple matters moving without losing quality. You manage a busy portfolio with ease, bringing sharp time management, sound judgement and a calm, methodical approach to complex, sensitive work. You're confident navigating legislation, writing clear, defensible decisions, and engaging a wide range of stakeholders - knowing when to influence, when to consult and how to keep things progressing. You're collaborative, open to feedback and keen to share your expertise, lifting those around you while continuing to refine your own practice. OIC training (Office of the Information Commissioner) would further support your application.
