Principal Engineer (Civil)

We are seeking a motivated professional with strong leadership and technical expertise in civil infrastructure delivery. You will have proven experience in program and project management, including governance of major projects and rail interfaces with strong risk management capability.
You bring the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, communicate complex technical information clearly, and build effective stakeholder relationships.
You demonstrate sound engineering operational experience, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a results-driven mindset, with resilience to deliver outcomes aligned with strategic priorities.
Mandatory Requirements;
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Washington Accord or equivalent)
RPEQ registration
Class C Driver’s Licence
Work eligibility in Australia
Ability to meet pre-employment checks.

As Principal Engineer (Civil), you will support the Delivery and Operations unit in achieving the Darling Downs District's and Southern Queensland Region's strategic goals. You'll manage QTRIP infrastructure program, ensuring timely, budgetconscious and high-quality delivery while complying with policies, regulations and safety standards. The role involves providing technical expertise, leading and managing project teams, fostering stakeholder collaboration and driving continuous  improvement in project delivery processes to align with district priorities.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide leadership and direction for the delivery of infrastructure delivery programs across all phases, including providing first line implementation and establishment of emergency works programs following a natural disaster event.
• Provide project management leadership to Project Managers within your program of transport infrastructure projects and encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
• Monitor and report on the progress of projects against program priorities to the District Director, Program Performance Advisor, Manager Delivery & Operations and Program Management Team.
• Develop and maintain ongoing constructive relationships with other government agencies and jurisdictions, industry, stakeholders, community and internal and external client networks associated with the delivery of the districts program to ensure that effective engagement is undertaken.
• Ensure the application of all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and quality of outcomes at all stages of the delivery of the road infrastructure projects within a defined program.
• Investigate and resolve complex issues associated with projects and prepare submissions and reports relating to planning and technical issues to improve overall performance and ensure value-for-money and effective project delivery.
• Act as ‘Administrator' or ‘Representative of the Principal' as required for the delivery of contracts within a program of projects in the development and/or implementation and finalisation phases.

This Position is available in Toowoomba or Warwick
