A permanent opportunity exists within the Policy, Planning and Investment team for a strategic and technically skilled Senior Engineer (Strategic Asset Management) to help shape the future of Queensland's transport network. In this role, you will apply data-driven insights, engineering expertise, and innovative thinking to support long term asset planning, investment prioritisation, and network performance.
In the role of Senior Engineer (Strategic Asset Management) you will liaise, consult and co-ordinate with members of the Transport System Asset Management (TSAM) team, Regions, Districts, customers and other stakeholders and contribute to:
- The development of strategies / systems for the effective management of transport system infrastructure.
- Effective co-ordination of transport system Maintenance, Preservation and Operations (MPO) activities.
- Effective management of asset management analysis projects undertaken by TSAM unit.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Apply methodologies and processes, including computer-based engineering (data analytics) and and tools for the determination of future road maintenance and construction needs, developing strategic options for road network planning, and for road funding purposes.
- Develop and maintain models, visualisations and tools for collecting, analysing and reporting data for strategic planning purposes.
- Provide leadership, technical and management direction to professionals and technical staff working on the road asset valuation annual process.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
- Possession of a degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution or corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, or qualifications which, in the opinion of the Director General of the Department of Transport & Main Roads are equivalent.
- Possession of Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) Qualification.
Requirements of the role
- Experience in project management practices when delivering works to achieve desired business outcomes within given deadlines, scope, quality, cost, and stakeholder expectations.
- Knowledge and experience of engineering principles, techniques, and methods to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of road infrastructure projects.
