Key responsibilities
• Maintaining appropriate and effective liaison and communication with internal staff, State and Local Government agencies.
• Providing timely, high-level written and oral advice on town planning matters as they relate to the safety and efficiency of the transport network.
• Applying relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements in respect to development assessments and transport planning.
• Co-ordinate and prioritise relevant tasks to ensure successful completion of activities within time, quality, cost and stakeholders expectations.
• Reviewing state and local government planning documents to assess their implications for Transport and Main Roads and providing response to those documents.
• Influence outcomes and represent the department on working groups, steering committees and Whole of Government meetings for both state and local governments.
• Prepare ministerial correspondence, briefs and reports for Deputy Regional Directors and Regional Directors and other department officers as required.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• Possession of tertiary qualifications in Town Planning from a recognised tertiary institution which is acceptable for full membership with the Planning Institute of Australia.
• Current holder of a 'C' class driver's Licence.
Requirements of the role
• Provides technical leadership and guidance across complex and sensitive planning matters, ensuring consistent, pragmatic and defendable assessment outcomes aligned with organisational objectives.
• Town Planning - Demonstrates high level of knowledge and practice regarding development assessment and Planning Policy in accordance with Town Planning legislation, processes and policies.
• Recognises how organisational events and issues impact on the work of the team, prioritises projects and tasks efficiently, in line with team commitments.
• Communicates in a clear, succinct and deliberate manner, adjusting the message so that it resonates with different stakeholders. Supports others by providing timely information within own area of expertise in an articulate and non-technical manner.
• Demonstrates respect and appreciation for legislation and policy frameworks by consistently operating to key standards, upholds integrity through responsible management and use of processes and resources.
