Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, environment, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats. Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.

SIP: Strategy, Investment and Performance (SIP) delivers a range of services to support Biosecurity Queensland (BQ). SIP partners with BQ program areas to provide specialised advice on best business practice and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business stakeholders.

As a Senior Investigator, you will:
• Undertake complex investigations to detect non-compliance with legislation administered by Biosecurity Queensland
• Provide mentoring and training to operational authorised officers on undertaking investigations and applying legislation
• Develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships at local, state and national levels

There are some requirements that we see as essential. You must:
• Possess a current “C” class drivers' licence.
• Be prepared to travel intrastate and work outside normal business hours to undertake duties associated with the role (only in limited circumstances).
• Commit to obtain vaccinations (or provide evidence of prior vaccinations) for animal or plant borne diseases such as Q fever.
• Be able to drive for extended periods (within driver standards) and carry out limited manual tasks in the field.

This role requires the ability to undertake high level investigations and determine appropriate compliance actions. Previous experience undertaking investigations, investigation management and/or presentation of oral evidence in court and/or tribunal is highly regarded.

You will have a keen eye for detail, great time management and effective problem-skilling skills. More than anything, you will have a positive attitude and make a great contribution to our close-knit and connected team.
