The Relationship Manager, Escalation Review role sits within the Strategy and Engagement Division within Victim Assist. The team consists of a Team Leader (A07), two Senior Liaison Officers (A06), and two Senior Review Officers (A06). The Relationship Manager is a critical leadership role within VAQ, reporting to the Director of Strategy and Engagement. This position is designed to strengthen stakeholder engagement, streamline operations, and address systemic challenges within the victim support sector. The Relationship Manager serves as a centralised point of contact for victim advocacy groups, oversees the Escalation Review Team, and works closely with the Office of the Victims Commissioner to ensure effective management of complaints and systemic issues.

As Relationship Manager, you will specifically:

  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Coordinate the provision of accurate and timely advice between the Office of the Minister and the department 
  • Liaise with the Office of the Director-General, Office of the Senior Executive Director and other departmental divisional contacts to ensure the timely preparation of high-quality correspondence, letters and other documents as required for the Minister for Youth Justice and Victim Support and victim advocacy groups.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of strategic and policy matters, including contentious issues, as they relate to the department and the broader victim services environment 
  • Assist with the effective and efficient resolution of enquiries and complaints made to the Office of the Minister concerning victims of crime 
  • Work closely with the Office of the Victims Commissioner to address systemic issues and manage complaints effectively. 
  • Execute organisational change and an improvement focused culture and provides strategic leadership and management to a team of Review Officers and Liaison Officers. 
  • Initiate a positive and collaborative team culture towards the achievement of results, operational outcomes and performance measures, using sound business judgment, initiating and directing remedial action as required. 
  • Establish productive relationships with stakeholders to inform and deliver both strategic and operational objectives, as well as timely and victim focused services. 
  • Identify broader factors, trends and influences that may impact on outputs, work quality and timeliness of services. 
  • Serve as a centralised point of contact for victim advocacy groups, ensuring timely and professional responses, improving communication, and fostering collaboration. 
  • Oversee Senior Review Officers decisions ensuring robust decision making which aligns with legislation, policies and procedures. 
  • Represent VAQ at Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) hearings, as required. 
  • Manage Financial, Human Resource and Performance management activities including budget and establishment management, workforce and succession planning, coaching, mentoring and staff supervision.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by supervisory and management staff, adhering to professional standards and organisational objectives.
