Executive Manager - Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance Unit A; Victim Assist Queensland; Victim Support; South Brisbane
The Executive Manager, Financial Assistance will be appointed by the chief executive as a Government Assessor under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (Section 128).
This position reports to the Director, Financial Assistance and will:
• Perform functions as delegated by the Scheme Manager, Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (section 129).
• Lead a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of high quality, responsive services in an evidence-based decision-making environment.
• Drive organisational change, culture and capability and provide leadership to Victim Assist Queensland staff.
• Implement systems and processes to facilitate the timely assessment of applications for financial assistance in line with legislative intent.

Key responsibilities:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Consult with other Victim Assist managers administer Victim Assist business objectives.
- Execute organisational change and an improvement focussed culture and provides strategic leadership and management to a multi-disciplinary team of administrative law decision makers.
- Initiate a positive and collaborative team culture towards the achievement of results, operational outcomes and performance measures, using sound business judgment, initiating and directing remedial action as required.
- Establish productive relationships with stakeholders to inform and deliver both strategic and operational objectives, as well as timely and victim focussed services.
- Identify broader factors, trends and influences that may impact on outputs, work quality and timeliness of services.
- Undertake a leading role in setting policy to guide the determination of applications made under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
- Implement and refine risk-based decision-making frameworks to anchor decision making appropriately and ensure consistency of decision making across teams.
- Manage Financial, Human Resource and Performance management activities including budget and establishment management, workforce and succession planning, coaching, mentoring and staff supervision.
