The Senior Program Officer's key responsibilities are:
- Develop and/or manage projects and programs that support the effective delivery of services relevant to the business unit, to primarily achieve delegated authority to community-controlled organisations.
- Participate in relevant end to end procurement practices as they relate to regional operations to ensure quality responsive service within legislative and regulatory frameworks.
- Professionally represent the department at forums with key stakeholders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suppliers
- Consult with government agencies and community organisations to support the development of effective policy and program options to deliver and maintain quality services.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders towards the development and implementation of whole-of-government policy and program initiatives relating to the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
- Undertake research and provide advice to government and regional staff.
- Prepare a range of written materials including cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes and information papers concerned with the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
- Collaborate with other departmental staff in the management of communication and information activities to ensure broad awareness of issues affecting Queenslanders with disability.
- Develop and maintain systems for the effective monitoring and review of policy and programs which are the responsibility of the business unit.
Your mandatory requirements
- It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. One of the referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.
- Travel is a requirement of this position, including visiting remote communities
- It is a requirement that the applicant hold a current “C” Class Drivers licence.
- Formal procurement, purchasing and/or contract management accreditation is well regarded (i.e. Queensland Purchasing, QGCPO, CIPS or similar), or have the ability to acquire this accreditation.
Desirable requirements:
- Extensive experience in tertiary child protection practice and possession of a degree and/or post graduate studies in related content is highly desirable.
