Our Traffic Management Centres play a critical role in keeping people and freight moving safely and efficiently by providing real-time information, optimising network capacity, and ensuring the availability of Intelligent Transport Systems. As a Senior Advisor (Real-time Network Management), you'll help shape how we manage and respond to network performance across the state.
This is a temporary role, with an asap start until 31 July 2027, with possibility of extension.
THE ROLE:
In this role, you'll oversee and influence real-time network operations, ensuring optimal performance of the state-controlled road network. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the state, provide strategic advice, and drive continuous improvement in traffic management practices.
Key responsibilities include:
• Overseeing real-time operations, ensuring effective allocation and monitoring of resources to optimise network performance outcomes.
• Identifying performance benchmarks, gaps and improvement opportunities, and supporting consistent implementation of enhanced procedures and systems across the state.
• Promoting best practice through the development, coaching and training of staff.
• Managing the planning, development and delivery of network management projects in collaboration with the Principal Advisor and key stakeholders.
• Supervising and coordinating resources to foster teamwork and build a highperforming, engaged workforce.
• Preparing and reviewing reports, disruption plans, correspondence, and contract and procurement documentation.
• Supporting District and Regional disruptive event management teams (DEMT) across all phases of major events including planning, response and recovery.
This role is dynamic and impactful, requiring strong leadership capability, sound judgement, and the ability to respond effectively in fast-paced, real-time environments.

Mandatory conditions:
• Participation in an on-call roster (7 days, approximately once every 6 weeks), with occasional after-hours, weekend or public holiday work as required.
• Ability to travel based on operational needs.
• A criminal history check will be conducted prior to appointment.
