About the role

The Senior Triage and Assessment Officer plays a critical role in supporting the QBCC's frontline regulatory functions by leading the initial assessment, prioritisation and progression of complaints within the Compliance and Enforcement division.

In this role, you will apply sound judgement to analyse complex information, manage sensitive or escalated matters, and ensure decisions are fair, transparent and aligned with legislation, policy and organisational standards.

You will provide guidance, coaching and support to team members to deliver consistent, high‑quality assessments in a high‑volume environment, while fostering strong working relationships across internal teams and external regulatory partners.

The role also contributes to continuous improvement by identifying risks, enhancing processes and strengthening service delivery across the division.

About you

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in complaint assessment, triage, case management or similar functions within a regulatory, compliance or investigative environment, with the ability to analyse complex information and make sound, defensible decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead or support a team through coaching and oversight of work quality, while effectively managing competing priorities in a high‑volume environment.
  • Well‑developed communication skills, including the ability to manage sensitive or escalated matters professionally and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support coordinated responses.
  • Commitment to fairness, transparency and accountability, with the ability to quickly acquire and apply knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance frameworks and regulatory processes.
