Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships (QPWS&P) is a Division of the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science & Innovation, and manages land and sea areas throughout the state, covering approximately 13 million hectares of terrestrial reserves, 72,000km² of state marine parks, 344,000km² of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, 1.2 million hectares of fish habitat areas and approximately 500 protected area islands.
A purpose and a challenge that matter
This extensive operational environment requires the QPWS&P WHS team to offer professional WHS advice to the workforce on a range of risks and hazards, with the aim of reducing workplace incidents and injuries and advising on operational implementation of the Department's Safety Management System. One day you'll be educating others; the next, conducting incident investigation or providing professional advice on a range of safety topics relevant to the workforce. You'll do varied, stimulating work, and you will work collaboratively with your team to develop and maintain effective WHS services and systems. Your strong application of safety knowledge and communication skills will assist you in tackling evolving priorities.

You will need:
• Demonstrable experience of practical application of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and processes to the workplace
• Resilience, pragmatism, tenacity, and confidence in delivering practical safety advice for diverse and complex situations
• Organisational, project management, and teamwork skills
• Advanced communication skills and the ability to form trusted relationships with partners and employees across all levels
• Ability to use IT and software tools to analyse WHS data, identify WHS gaps and promote solutions
Location:
• This position has a flexible location and travel to other locations will be required from time to time including to remote areas and will include occasional overnight stays.
• Location to be negotiated but must be in a major centre to allow for quick deployment access to various parts of the state.
