The Office of the Deputy Director General (ODDG) IMD is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor (Occupational Hygiene) to join it's team located in Brisbane. In the role of Senior Advisor (Occupational Hygiene) you will support the implementation and continuous improvement of the safety management system, focusing specifically on solutions, processes and initiatives to achieve effective occupational hygiene management.

This will include the provision of expert professional advice on legislative, scientific and technical issues to internal stakeholders, operational implementation of systems, solutions, processes and initiatives and stakeholder management to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety and other legislation.

In the role of Senior Advisor (Occupational Hygiene) you will support the  implementation and continuous improvement of the safety management system, focussing specifically on solutions, processes and initiatives to achieve effective occupational hygiene management. This will include the provision of expert professional advice on legislative, scientific and technical issues to internal  stakeholders, operational implementation of systems, solutions, processes and initiatives, and stakeholder management to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety and other legislation.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
•Conduct field based occupational hygiene monitoring and assessment activities, including the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, to identify and evaluate risks such as asbestos, respirable crystalline silica, hazardous noise and other occupational health hazards
•Provide advice and guidance to operational teams on professional, scientific, technical and legislative compliance issues related to occupational health and hygiene.
•Perform real time monitoring and inspections at worksites, including transport infrastructure maintenance and construction projects, to ensure compliance with occupational hygiene standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
•Support the implementation of practical control measures in the field to mitigate occupational hygiene risks and validate their effectiveness through ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
•Deliver on site education and training sessions to operational teams, focusing on occupational hygiene practices, risk awareness, and the correct use of monitoring equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Assist in the investigation of workplace health and safety incidents involving occupational hygiene concerns by conducting on site assessments, gathering evidence and recommending practical control solutions.

Highly Desirable requirements
•Valid Queensland 'C' class driver's licence or equivalent
•Availability to undertake travel consistent with industry standards throughout the State.
•Qualifications in occupational hygiene.

Evaluates possible solutions and takes appropriate steps to mitigate risks.
