Permanent full-time opportunity for an Electrical Mechanic within RoadTek’s Gold Coast Operations Unit, based in Nerang. In this hands-on role, you will install and maintain traffic signals, street lighting, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and associated electrical infrastructure in line with departmental standards and safety legislation. You will work across varied sites, contributing to the delivery of safe, reliable transport networks for the community.

In this hands-on role, you will install, maintain and support electrical infrastructure including traffic signals, street lighting and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). You will work across a variety of sites, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of Queensland's road network while ensuring compliance with departmental standards, legislation and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carry out specified activities or tasks according to departmental plans, specifications and works orders, and in compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Monitor safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment and to ensure compliance with Electrical and Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
- Liaise with other authorities where necessary for effective co-ordination of electrical construction and maintenance activities.
- Perform work which while primarily involving the skills of the employee's trade is incidental or peripheral to the primary task and facilitates the completion of the whole task such incidental or peripheral work would not require additional formal technical training.
About you:
You are a qualified Electrical Mechanic with a strong commitment to safety, teamwork and delivering quality outcomes. You will have the ability to work flexibly across rotating rosters, including nights, weekends, public holidays and on-call arrangements. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving will see you succeed in this dynamic environment.
Mandatory requirements:
- Electrical Mechanic with a current Electrical Work Licence
- Current CPR and Low Voltage Rescue competencies
- White Card (Construction Industry)
- Current “C” class driver licence
- TMR has a Drug and Alcohol Policy which applies to all Employees, Workers and Visitors to TMR workplaces. This may include random, post incident and reasonable suspicion testing during employment to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
- Ability to travel as required and participate in rostered and on-call work.
Requirements of the role
- Application of knowledge of Electrical Installation, Street Lighting, Traffic Signal, and basic Intelligent Transport Systems, construction and maintenance principles.
- Clear and succinct communication, adjusting the message so that it resonates with different stakeholders. Supports others by providing timely information within own area of expertise in an articulate and non-technical manner.
- A contribution to the development of team objectives and recognises own role in achieving results.
- Respect and appreciation for legislation and policy frameworks by consistently operating to key standards. Analyses information to proactively identify risks to the team's planned activities. Evaluates possible solutions and takes appropriate steps to mitigate risks.
Some Employment and benefits:
- 76-hour fortnight with a Rostered Day Off
- There may be a requirement to work rotating day/night/weekend rosters and be available for public holidays, on-call duties and overtime payable as required.
