About us
With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).

The Engineer (Civil) role supports the planning and delivery of road infrastructure projects across Queensland, working under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure safe, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes. The position involves project management activities such as administering contracts, coordinating resources, and providing technical expertise across the planning, design, construction, and maintenance phases. You will also contribute to road and bridge maintenance programs, undertake risk assessments, analyse materials, and help determine functional layouts that support long-term network objectives.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, local government, and external stakeholders to deliver projects that meet community needs and organisational standards. Success requires applying sound engineering judgement, maintaining strong governance and quality assurance practices, and supporting continuous improvement and innovation.
