The purpose of this position is the provision of high level Ministerial and Executive Correspondence System (MECS) advice and support across the Office of the Director-General and Executive offices within the department.

This position also supports the Manager, Ministerial & Executive Services Unit (MESU) with the provision of advice on complex matters.

As the Senior Correspondence Officer (AO5), you will:
• Maintain effective and efficient administrative processes for the coordination of all executive governance documentation including ministerial and Senior Executive correspondence and briefs
• Ensure that all documentation is prepared, tracked and progressed through established departmental systems and processes within determined timeframes. Prepare reports as required with respect to quality, quantity and timeliness of executive documentation
• Monitor, coordinate and quality check the preparation of all executive documentation on a wide range of departmental matters. This requires a high level of written communication and editorial skills, strong grasp of written and spoken English language, excellent attention to detail and the ability to analyse, edit and prepare reports, submissions and correspondence of a contentious nature. Manage confidential and sensitive documentation at ministerial and executive level
• Liaise with staff from the Minister's Office, Office of the Director-General and senior officers within the department and the service areas, demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence others in the achievement of desired outcomes and the ability to maintain relationships in a high pressure environment
• Coordinate and chair regular meetings with peers/colleagues within the Office of the Director-General to discuss executive correspondence and briefing issues and represent the Office of the Director-General at intradepartmental meetings

Qualifications
There are no mandatory qualifications required for this role. However, previous experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
