Senior Project Officer
Ecotourism & Industry Engagement; Permissions Management & Ecotourism; Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships; Flexible
This role will manage projects and participate in project teams within the Ecotourism team that contribute to sustainable ecotourism use of Queensland’s protected estate. You will participate in a multi-disciplinary team to develop, provide advice on and continuously improve strategies and systems, policies and procedures for ecotourism facility development across Queensland’s national parks.
You will assist with the development of ecotourism facility proposals on the protected area estate including assessment and engagement with proponents, Traditional Owners and other government departments.

What you need for the role:
• Role model Individual Contributor leadership behaviours as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland.
• Demonstrated project management experience and understanding of principles, practices and methodologies for the assessment of ecotourism facility proposals, employing ethical behaviour.
• Applied knowledge of ecotourism in relation to national parks and other protected areas and the ability to quickly understand relevant legislation, policies and frameworks.
• Interpersonal, problem solving and negotiation skills and the ability to successfully initiate and implement change and continuous improvement for good ecotourism outcomes.
• Ambition to drive results to achieve departmental objectives.
• Ability to undertake high level written and verbal communication (including stakeholder liaison, advice and preparation of written reports, commercial leases and complex ministerial and executive correspondence and briefs).
• It is highly desirable that the successful applicant has knowledge of contract management principles.
