This is your opportunity to work in the thriving regional centre of Bundaberg and the greater Wide Bay Burnett district. In the role of Inspector (Roadworks) you will inspect new construction works, routine, programmed, rehabilitation and reactive maintenance contracts, third party road corridor works such as public utility plant and developer works and support the management of critical incident and declared disaster events, ensuring delivery of high standards of quality, economy, governance, and safety are achieved.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical support, advice, knowledge, and experience to achieve effective outcomes from sole invitee, local government, and open contracts.
- Conduct surveillance inspections of contractor's work, processes, temporary traffic management, quality, environmental controls and safety, to ensure compliance with specification, legislative requirements, and contract conditions.
- Maintain detailed records (diaries, test results, photos) and reports to a high standard.
- Provide regular advice to the Contract Administrator or their representative on contractor performance and general project progress.
- Guide, mentor, and coach less experienced colleagues in all aspects of road works, quality assurance, safety traffic and environmental management and application of Main Roads' technical specifications
- Investigate complaints and requests for action from the public in relation to road network operations.
- Review contractors program of works, quality, environment, safety and traffic management plans whilst identifying deficiencies and monitoring external contractors to ensure adherence to relevant Workplace Health and Safety requirements. Apply relevant WH&S requirements in the workplace.
- Actively participate in the Roadworks Inspector Career Development Program (RICDP) and any training associated with the program
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
- Current “Class C” driver's licence
Desirable qualifications
- Possession of a Certificate III in Civil Construction
Requirements of the role
- Construction and Maintenance: Demonstrates knowledge of construction and/or maintenance practices and principles relevant to transport infrastructure projects.
- Contract Administration: Applies a comprehensive knowledge of contract administration documents, specifications, contract conditions and standard drawings, with the ability to read and interpret plans and specifications accurately.
- Builds Enduring Relationships: Builds and sustains relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.
- Teamwork: Ability to actively participate in a team environment. Support fellow team members and constructively work in a team environment to solve problems.
