Licensing Assessment Officer

QBCC is seeking a motivated Licensing Assessment Officer to join the Licensing Services Branch on a full-time temporary basis until 30 June 2027. This role will suit someone who enjoys assessing information, applying legislation and policy, and making fair, evidence-based decisions that support Queensland’s building and construction industry. The position is based in Brisbane, with flexible work arrangements available.

About the role
As the Licensing Assessment Officer, you will manage licensing matters from start to finish, including reviewing builder applications, requesting further information from clients, and considering relevant risks before reaching an outcome. You will use research, analysis and judgement to interpret legislation, standards and internal procedures, ensuring decisions are accurate, consistent and defensible.
You will also engage with applicants, builders and internal stakeholders through clear written and verbal communication, helping to resolve complex enquiries and support quality service delivery. In addition, you will contribute to team operations by maintaining accurate records, using systems confidently, and assisting with general administrative tasks as required.

About you
The successful candidate will bring strong attention to detail, well-developed research skills and the ability to assess information thoughtfully before reaching a sound conclusion. You will be comfortable working independently, while also contributing positively within a team environment.
You will communicate clearly and professionally, including the ability to explain complex information in a way that is easy to understand. Confidence using technology and business systems will support your ability to manage workloads efficiently and maintain accurate information
Exposure to licensing, decision-making environments or working with builders would be beneficial, but is not mandatory. Candidates with transferable skills in assessment, stakeholder communication, regulatory processes or case management are encouraged to apply.
