An exciting temporary opportunity exists for a Senior Modeller (Games Passenger Transport) within the Olympic & and Paralympic Coordination Branch, Department of Transport and Main Roads.
This role is critical to supporting the delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Games) transport strategy and associated testing.
In this role, you will contribute to and support a small team of transport modellers and analysts, linked to infrastructure delivery and testing for Games-related transport systems, including games route network, venue transport overlay, fleet and spectator transport strategy & operational planning development including wide-area impact assessments, across South East Queensland (SEQ) and regional venues.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Apply the Games Public Transport Model to support Games public transport strategy development and testing, with a focus on detailed timetable-based service modelling and operational planning. Use demand and network inputs derived from the Games Strategic Transport Model to analyse detailed passenger movements, customer journeys and both background and Games-specific public transport performance at fine temporal resolution.
• Prepare modelling outputs for peer review and implement feedback to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Create and maintain spatial data and mapping products to support planning and modelling activities.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Requirements of the role
• Expertise in transport modeling, data science, transport planning, or other relevant field, with a strong focus on continuous learning and growth.
• Proficiency in utilising one or more of the following:
o Transport modelling software (e.g., EMME, AIMSUN)
o Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
o ETL software (e.g. Alteryx, Jupyter Notebooks)
o BI / Visualization software (e.g. Tableau, KNIME, PowerBI)
o Programming languages (e.g. Python)
o Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)
o Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience in executing projects that meet cost, time, and quality expectations.
• Skill in building and sustaining relationships for collaborative customer-focused results, utilising cooperation for optimal outcomes.
• While not mandatory, a degree from a recognised tertiary institution in engineering, mathematics, economics, data science, geospatial science, information technology or an equivalent qualification would be highly regarded.
